Book Review | Song of Blood and Stone

Book: Song of Blood and Stone
Author: L. Penelope
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

L. Penelope is seriously one of the best fantasy/paranormal writers I have come across to date. Also my one of my new favorite authors!

Her characters are strong, fluid, and even though they live in a completely different world from ours, they are completely relatable.

Her writing is remarkable and so profound, I could barely contain my excitement at coming across this fabulous gem!

She has the most amazingly beautiful cover and I am a cover snob so after reading the description, that cemented my resolve to try a sample.

It was worth it.

The sample drew me in so quickly and I knew once it ended I would be purchasing the book.

Which I did. Again it was worth it.

This story is the first book of the Earthsingers Chronicles. The two main characters are Jack and Jasminda. They live in a world where Jasminda is treated unfairly because of her Earthsinging skills and the color of her skin. People are fearful of her even when she saves a young child who almost dies. Then comes along Jack. He is captivated by her strength and beauty. He runs into a bit of trouble and she is the one that saves him and he does everything he can to repay her. Their story is beautiful.

L. Penelope was writing their world in such a beautifully captivating way, I was enthralled. It felt as if I was transformed into another world.

I am so ready for book 2 in this series! Once you get a chance to read this book, you’ll know exactly what I mean!

So no rush L. Penelope but just know I am waiting for the next installment!

It’s hard to be normal when you see the dead everywhere. So I gave up. I just focus on staying out of their way. But the guy haunting my roommate is different. He’s impossible to ignore, and now other people can see him too.
He says my roommate is the only one who can save him from an eternity of torment. But one night he follows me into my nightmare and rescues me from my demons. Now he’s all I think about. This must be what it’s like to fall… for someone who can never be mine.
A lifetime ago, I found my soulmate in the human world. But being angelborn means I don’t have a soul. When I lost my one true love, I lost my future and my freedom. Now, I have a second chance — she’s been reborn and I must gain her love again or serve out the rest of my eternal sentence alone.
But this time I am a fugitive with powerful angels hunting me, and I’m running out of time. You only get one soulmate, and mine isn’t the broken, scarred girl, who sees what no one else can. She’s a distraction I can scarcely afford — but I’m unable to stay away from her.
****Just so you know… I was given nothing to do this review. Paid for the book myself.
